The Octorara Covenanter Presbyterian Foundation would like to thank everyone who attended & participated in the 11th Annual Covenanter Scottish Festival & Highland Games. Despite the rain in the afternoon the event was a success! The performers & heritage events were outstanding, enthusiastic clans & organizations were there to share their history, Scottish wares were for sale and over fifty amazing athletes competed in the Games. Eddie Woodard served as athletic director for the first time and did an incredible job organizing & running the Games.
Also, forty pipers competed in Solo Piping Competitions. As always, Thompson & Betsy McConnell did an amazing job organizing the Competitions. Twenty-five dancers competed in Highland Dance Competitions. Cailine & Kathleen Drummond & Heather Sutherland organized this great event. The Gaelic School of Baltimore joined us this year & shared Scottish Gaelic with the crowd. A big thank-you goes out to our hardworking volunteers who did an amazing job. Without the energetic folks at Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church & other community members, this event could not take place!! We were very fortunate and thankful to have many generous sponsors. It was a fun day and an all-around great way to celebrate the heritage of the Scots & Scots-Irish in Southern Lancaster County!
